Privacy Policy

Dopplersky (“we,” “our,” or “us”) is a Bluesky analytics service operated by Stony Softworks. We build historical statistics and insight from public information published on Bluesky and the AT Protocol. This policy explains what we collect, how we use it, what we make public, and the choices you have. We aim to minimise what we collect and to be plain about what we do with it.

1. Information we collect

a. Public Bluesky data we track

When any Bluesky account is looked up on Dopplersky, we record and keep the account’s publicly available information so we can build statistics over time. Looking up an account enrols it for ongoing, periodic collection. This includes:

  • Profile details: account identifier (DID), handle, display name, avatar, and follower, following, and post counts.
  • Per-post engagement recorded repeatedly over the life of a post (likes, replies, quotes, and reposts), so we can show how activity and engagement change over time.

All of this is already public on Bluesky. We do not collect private messages, drafts, or anything that is not publicly visible on the network.

b. Audience data (opt-in, off by default)

Audience intelligence is off by default. It is switched on when you ask for it, by explicitly enabling it for your own account or by starting the free trial, which includes this feature. Once it is on, we collect a bounded sample of the public engagement of other accounts that interact with your posts (for example, their handle, account size, whether they follow you, and when they engaged) so we can show you who drives your reach. Collection is limited to your own account, is forward-looking only (it begins when it is turned on), and uses only public activity on the network. You can turn it off at any time.

c. Account and authentication data

If you sign in with Bluesky (via AT Protocol OAuth), we store the session and authorization information needed to keep you signed in and to act on your behalf with your Bluesky provider. Our session cookie carries your account identifier only; access tokens are held server-side. We also keep a record for your account (your account identifier, handle, display name, avatar, and when you signed in) together with your subscription and free-trial status, so we know whether premium features are available to you. If you choose to give us an email address on your account page, we store that as well, and use it only to send you messages about your own account, such as a free trial that is about to end. Bluesky does not give us your address and we do not look one up; it is stored only because you entered it, and removing it from that page stops those messages.

d. Information collected automatically

  • Usage data: how you interact with the site, such as pages viewed and features used. We measure this with Umami, a privacy-focused analytics service that does not use cookies or track you across sites. Events record which parts of the product were used (for example, that a sign-in or free trial was started), not the content of your account.
  • Device data: technical details such as IP address, browser type, and operating system.

2. How we use information

  • To provide, maintain, secure, and improve the service.
  • To generate the analytics and insights shown to you, including your profile history, post replay, and (where enabled) your audience.
  • Aggregate analysis. We analyse tracked data across accounts, in aggregate and de-identified form, to build and improve the analytics the service offers, such as comparisons between accounts and summaries of what performs well. This analysis does not reveal your audience intelligence, which stays private to you.
  • To communicate with you, including responding to inquiries.

3. What is public

Dopplersky is, in large part, a public analytics service built on public data. You should assume the following are visible to anyone:

  • Profile analytics pages. Each tracked account has a public, search-engine-indexable page showing its public metrics and history.
  • Which accounts we track. Because profile pages are indexable, the set of accounts we track is not secret. We do not publish a directory of them.

We only ever display public information in these surfaces. Your audience intelligence data (section 1b) is private to you as the signed-in owner and is never shown publicly.

4. How we share information

We do not sell your personal information. We may share information with:

  • Service providers who help us operate the service (for example hosting and infrastructure providers), under appropriate confidentiality obligations.
  • Authorities when required by law or valid legal request.
  • A successor entity in connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets.

5. Data retention

Keeping history is the point of the service: we retain the time series we collect so we can show trends and long-run change. We keep data for as long as an account is tracked and as needed to provide the service, unless you ask us to remove it (see below).

6. Your choices and rights

  • Audience intelligence is opt-in and can be disabled at any time (starting the free trial, which includes the feature, also switches it on).
  • You may request that an account be removed from tracking, or that we delete data we hold, by contacting us. Because the underlying information is public on Bluesky, removal affects Dopplersky’s records, not the source network.
  • You can sign out at any time to end your session.

7. Data security

We use reasonable, industry-standard measures to protect information. However, no method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

8. Third-party links and services

Dopplersky relies on Bluesky and the AT Protocol and may link to third-party sites. We are not responsible for the privacy practices or content of services we do not operate.

9. Children’s privacy

Dopplersky is not intended for individuals under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

10. International users

We operate in the United States. If you access Dopplersky from elsewhere, you consent to processing and storage of information in the United States.

11. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. Changes are posted here with a new “Last updated” date, and your continued use of the service after a change constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
